About Clinical Aromatherapy
Clinical aromatherapy is a complementary therapy that uses the active chemical constituents of essential oils to support physical and psychological wellbeing. It is a holistic therapy that utilises the properties of the oils to address physical symptoms as well as helping to restore balance to the body as a whole. Although the name ‘aromatherapy’ is relatively new, aromatic plant extracts have been used medicinally and therapeutically for thousands of years.
Essential oils are aromatic substances that are extracted from a single botanical source and contain many different chemical compounds which are able to interact with the body’s chemistry. Each essential oil has its own unique combination of properties; some are antiseptic, some anti-inflammatory and analgesic, whilst others support the digestive, nervous and immune systems. Therefore, by blending specific essential oils, a clinical aromatherapy treatment can be tailored to address individual needs.
Clinical aromatherapy is a very versatile therapy and can be used to support a wide variety of health concerns:
Muscular Aches and Pains
Anxiety and Stress
Insomnia and Sleep Disturbances
Eczema and Skin Problems and long term
Chronic Conditions
Scars and Skin Healing
Mental Health
General Health and Wellbeing
Low Energy and mood
